Watched the movie Gone Baby Gone. Really good performances. The story really isn't as sad as the trailers might lead you to believe. It is disturbing at times, but the ending is a surprise. It will make you think!

Saw the move Who Killed The Electric Car on Friday. Even if you don't believe that the auto and oil companies are that good at manipulating politicians, you have to admit there's something weird about refusing to sell something that people wanted to buy. And this new attachment to hydrogen fuel cells that are decades away from any realistic use - nice public relations and no impact on their current product lines or oil consumption.

Watch it and decide for yourself.

I watched the move You Kill Me a couple of weeks ago. Very funny. I liked both Tea Leoni and Ben Kingsley. They acted well and make a great couple!

Stardust - fabulous!

Went to see Stardust on Friday night. What a great movie! It's a fantasy, romance and action film in one. Claire Danes shines as the "Fallen Star", Yvaine. And Ricky Gervais is funny in a small part as a black market fence. Lots of laughs throughout. It's not for young kids, more aimed at some older kids and adults.

A Chinese Ghost Story

I rented the trilogy of movies that started with A Chinese Ghost Story in 1987. Found them at Pic a Flic Video in downtown Victoria, on DVD.

The other movies in the series are A Chinese Ghost Story II, 1990, and A Chinese Ghost Story III, 1991.

I remember seeing the first move at Cinecenta (University of Victoria) around the time it came out.

So far my family and I have started to watch the first movie. The subtitles are hilarious - spocky and scareful, even!

Shut Up and Sing! The Dixie Chicks

I watched Shut Up and Sing last night, a documentary movie about the controversy caused by Dixie Chicks' lead sing Natalie Maines comments about President George Bush in 2003. It tells the story of the band members' lives over the next 2-3 years.

I thought it was a great movie. I like the Chicks' music and admire them for sticking together and standing up to the Bushies' attacks.
